Lady Hawk harriers compete in University of Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE — The Shorter University
women’s cross country team traveled to Louisville, Ky., on
Saturday to compete in the Louisville Classic hosted by the
University of Louisville.
The Lady Hawks, who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA
Women’s Cross Country Top 25 Coaches Poll, placed 22nd out of
32 teams at the invitational and finished better than Peach State
neighbor, Kennesaw State University.
In the group of 257 competitors, senior Sarah Massey crossed the
finish line first for Shorter placing 16th overall with a time of
18:36, followed by Shea Spicher finishing in 19:16 to secure 60th
place. Rachel McDaniel followed shortly after with a time of
19:53.
The Lady Hawks averaged 19:46 on the 5K course with a total time of
1 hour, 36 minutes. The Lady Hawks will race next on Oct.15 in
Fayetteville, Ark., in the Chili Pepper Invite.
