Lady Hawks soar to 13-4 with victory over Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Shorter University volleyball squad returned to its winning ways on Saturday, beating Emmanuel College in three sets, 25-22, 25-18, 25-19, in a Southern States Athletic Conference match.

Freshmen Jasmine Crook and Tori Bradley led the way for the Lady Hawks (13-4, 3-2 SSAC). Bradley garnered 12 kills and Crook added 10 kills and eight digs against the Lady Lions (13-4, 0-3).

In set one, the two teams battled back-and-forth and found themselves tied at 21-21. After a Lady Lions’ error, Jessica Cooper stepped in with a kill and a block followed by a kill from Jordan Corder to secure the first set win, 25-22.

Shorter led set two 21-16 with multiple kills coming from Corder, Cooper, and Bradley. Crook and junior Jessica White both swooped in for kills to set the Lions down 25-18.

In set three, Shorter led 23-18 and easily took the win following an Emmanuel error and a kill from Corder.

Megan Pepe and Tanequa Whitman finished the match with 10 digs each followed by Corder with nine. Corder also had 28 assists.

The Lady Hawks will host Brenau University on Monday, Sept. 26 at the Winthrop-King Centre at 7 pm.
