ATLANTA -- Shorter University sophomore striker Aline Bez Tamiosso has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week in an announcement made by the league on Monday evening.

It is the first Conference Player of the Week nod for Tamiosso, who transferred to Shorter prior to the 2011 season from Cowley Community College in Kansas.

Tamiosso, a native of Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil, helped the Lady Hawks go 2-0 during the week of Oct. 17-23 by scoring four goals and adding an assist in conference wins over Southern Wesleyan and Emmanuel.

Tamiosso scored once on a penalty kick in Shorter's 3-2 win over Southern Wesleyan on Tuesday before recording her second hat trick of the season and adding an assist in a 5-2 win over Emmanuel on Saturday that clinched a spot in the SSAC Tournament for the Lady Hawks.

The 5-3 forward has been on a tear as of late, scoring seven goals in her last four outings with hat tricks against Emmanuel and Brewton-Parker. For the season, Tamiosso leads the team and ranks third in the SSAC with 12 goals. She also has a team-high seven assists and her 31 points also rank among the nation's best.

Tamiosso and the Lady Hawks return to action tomorrow at 4:30 pm when they play host to three-time defending national champion and No. 2-ranked Lee University.
