FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Shorter University women's basketball team heads to Franklin Springs, Ga., on Saturday, Jan. 14 for a 2 pm Southern States Athletic Conference road game against Emmanuel College.

The Lady Hawks (12-3, 5-1 SSAC), ranked No. 21 in the latest NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches Top 25 Poll, have won two straight entering Saturday's matchup with Emmanuel, including a dominating 75-48 win over Southern Wesleyan on Thursday night. Shorter got 14 points and seven assists from Kelly Ellison and 12 points apiece from Robyn Foster and Allison Danner and embarked on a 21-0 run over a nearly nine minute stretch in the second half to seal the win.

Ellison leads the Lady Hawks in scoring, assists and steals. The senior from Columbus, who became Shorter's all-time assists leader last week, is averaging 12.3 points, 7.0 assists and 2.4 steals a game. She is also pulling down over four rebounds per outing while shooting a team-best 37 percent from 3 among players with at least 15 attempts from 3-point range.

Danner, a 5-10 senior wing from Roswell, has been very productive since entering the starting lineup two games ago versus William Carey. Since her insertion in the starting five, Danner is averaging 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.

Emmanuel (8-10, 3-4) returns home after dropping a 63-55 decision to No. 7 Lee in Cleveland, Tenn., on Thursday evening. That loss stopped the Lions' three-game winning streak that included SSAC wins over Auburn-Montgomery, Mobile and Truett-McConnell.

Junior guard Kaylyn Young leads Emmanuel in scoring at over 14 points a game and has taken nearly double the amount of shots of anyone else on the roster. Against the Lady Hawks, Young figures to attack the basket where she has excelled in drawing fouls and getting the line -- the Gainesville native has taken 86 free throws on the year and only 44 of her 215 shot attempts have come from beyond the arc.

Emmanuel is one of the nation's leading teams when it comes to offensive rebounding. The Lions are snaring 16 offensive boards a game while 6-0 senior post Ashontii Lewis ranks in the top 30 in the country and leads Emmanuel in rebounding at 7.6 per game.
