#21 Lady Hawks (3-0) vs. Reinhardt (1-2)
Tuesday, Nov. 15 • 6 pm • Winthrop-King Centre

ROME -- The Shorter women's basketball team will try for a fourth straight win to open the 2011-12 season when it plays host to Reinhardt University tomorrow night, Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 6 pm in the Winthrop-King Centre.

The Lady Hawks, ranked 21st in the NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches Preseason Poll, have started 3-0 behind victories over Coastal Georgia, Tennessee Temple and Morris College last week. Tomorrow night's game is the first of two showdowns between Shorter and Reinhardt over the next 13 days.

Reinhardt (1-2) has dropped two straight after a season-opening win over Pensacola Christian College. The Eagles have lost to Ave Maria (71-53) and Young Harris (65-50) in their last two outings.

Shorter and Reinhardt split a pair of meetings last season with each team winning on its home floor. The Lady Hawks beat Reinhardt by 19 at the Winthrop-King Centre before the Eagles responded with a 78-74 upset of a ranked Shorter squad in Waleska.

The Lady Hawks have unleashed their patented balanced attack on opponents so far this season.

Shorter has had four different players lead the team in scoring through its first three games -- Brittney Smith had 14 points against Coastal Georgia, Abbie Daniel a career-high 20 points in the win over Tennessee Temple and Kelly Ellison and Shelby Farrer poured in 12 points apiece to lead the Lady Hawks over Morris.

Behind her career night, Daniel leads Shorter in scoring at 13.3 points a game with Farrer averaging 11 and Smith 10.3 to round out the Lady Hawks' double figure scorers.

Ellison, a two-time NAIA All-American, is averaging 8.0 points, 6.3 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 3.7 steals. Her offense has yet to kick into gear -- Ellison is shooting just 29 percent and has yet to hit a 3-pointer -- but her floor presence has been as steady as ever for a veteran Shorter squad.
