ROME — The No. 2-ranked Shorter University men's cross country team captured the team championship at the 12k Tempo at Georgia Highlands College on Saturday.

The Hawks took home the title by an overwhelming margin, besting event runner-up Bryan College by 30 points and cross-town rival Berry College by 57 points.

Shorter's Daniel Sorenson crossed the finish line first for Shorter and second overall with a time of 20:33, followed by Peter Limo in third place with a time of 20:38. Eliud Ng’etich rounded out the Hawks’ top three finishers with a time of 20:38 to take fourth overall.

The Hawks averaged a time of 20:39 on the 6k course with a total time of 1 hour and 43 minutes.

"The guys did well and have been consistent this year,” said Shorter head coach Jay Stephenson. “If we can remain consistent for the next three weeks, we will be looking good for nationals."

Shorter heads to Jackson, Miss., on Nov. 5 for the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships. The Hawks, who placed 10th at last year’s NAIA Men’s Cross Country National Championship, are odds on favorites to win yet another conference title after posting a perfect 15 points at the SSAC Championships last season.
