LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Shorter University's Nick Dodson has been named the Mid-South Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week as announced by conference officials on Monday afternoon.

The weekly honor is the first of the season for Dodson, a senior and seven-time track All-American from Thomasville, Ga.

Dodson, a three-time Mid-South champion and three-time national runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles, put himself in a position to win his first individual national championship with his performance at the Coach O Invitational hosted by Troy University over the weekend.

Dodson won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 51.99, two seconds faster than the nearest competitor. He set a season best time with the effort and now holds the top time in the NAIA in the 400 hurdles.

Dodson and the Hawks will challenge for their fourth-straight Mid-South Conference championship when the Mid-South Conference Championships begin this Friday, April 29 at the University of Rio Grande.
