ATLANTA -- Shorter University had two players pick up postseason awards from the Southern States Athletic Conference according to a release from the league on Monday. Senior Garry Perks was named to the All-SSAC second team and Robert Ochieng appeared on the SSAC All-Freshman team.

Perks earned his second straight All-SSAC nod after leading Shorter in scoring and points in his final season.

A native of Tain, Scotland, Perks posted a career-high 13 goals, tied a career-high with four assists and led Shorter with 39 points. He finishes his career as Shorter's second all-time leading scorer with 31 goals in three seasons. Perks posted two hat tricks in 56 career appearances including a four-goal outing in a 2010 win over Truett-McConnell that tied Shorter's single-game goals record.

Ochieng, a freshman out of Macon, Ga., missed several games with a fractured orbital bone, but still appeared in 14 matches for the Hawks where he accumulated two goals and three assists.

The 5-11, 170-pound midfielder scored his first collegiate goal against Thomas University on Sept. 18 and was a consistent performer for head coach Josh Severns.

Shorter saw six student-athletes named to the SSAC All-Academic team. Sam Franz, Diego Gonzalez, Julian Kitkowski, Stan Nizamutdinov, Preston Watson and Trae Zablan earned a spot on the All-Academic roster after posting a 3.25 GPA or better and possessing at least sophomore academic standing.
