Sebastian Stihler earns second straight NAIA All-America honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Shorter University senior
men's soccer standout Sebastian Stihler has been named a third team
NAIA All-America selection as announced by the organization this
week.
It is the second straight All-America award for the Mannheim, Germany native, who closes out his career as one of the most accomplished players in Shorter men's soccer history.
Stihler, who was named a second team NAIA All-American and first team NSCAA All-American after his career season in 2009, led the Hawks to 11 more wins and a berth in the Southern States Athletic Conference semifinals on his way to a second consecutive All-America award in 2010.
Stihler earned SSAC Defensive Player of the Year accolades for the second straight season after scoring eight goals and dishing out two assists in 2010.
He missed the Hawks' final four games of the season due to a knee injury, but still ended his career tied for second all-time in school history in goals scored with 21.
An exceptional student, Stihler is a three-time SSAC All-Academic selection. He was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for the second straight year in 2010 along with teammates Stan Nizamutdinov and Trae Zablan.
Stihler is the men's soccer program's first two-time All-American and just the second two-time NAIA Scholar-Athlete, joining former Hawk soccer star Kyle Timberlake.
