Hawks Golf finishes 9th in NAIA Classic

INDIANAPOLIS – Shorter freshman Patrick Sundolf tied for ninth overall at the NAIA Classic on Tuesday, shooting 73-78-151 at The Brickyard Crossing to help Shorter to a ninth place team finish. The Hawks shot 309-320-629 in the two-day, 17-team event.
Following Sundolf, Ethan Lambert (158) and Oliver Larsson (158) tied for a 32nd place finish for the Hawks. Four shots behind Lambert and Larsson were teammates Matt Youmans (162) and Nico Rensburg (162), who both tied with three fellow golfers for 57th overall. Both Youmans and Rensburg shot 80-82-162 for the tournament.
Malone University (302-301-603) won the team title with Grand View (603), Point Loma Nazarene (611), Johnson & Wales (Fla.) (612) and William Woods (618) rounding out the top five. Josh Manske of Grand View shot 69-72-141 to win medalist honors.
The Hawks take the course again on April 22 in Pass Christian, Miss., to compete in the 2012 Southern States Athletic Conference Championships at the Oaks Golf Club.
