Men’s Golf ties for fifth at Rome News-Tribune Invitational

ROME – Freshman Patric Sundlof placed second overall after putting a 142 at the Coosa Country Club, helping Shorter secure a tied fifth place finish at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational.

Robert Prior and teammate, Ethan Lambert, tied for 21st overall both shooting close rounds with Lambert finishing one stroke short of Prior's 77 during Monday's first round. However, it was Prior who shot one under Lambert's 74 in Tuesday's last round to tie up the two Hawks in the 21st slot.

Matt Youmans finished fourth for Shorter with 158 barely upping teammate Tyler Steptoe with a score of 159, placing the two Hawks in their respective finishes of 54th and 58th overall.

University of the Cumberlands took first in the invitational with an overall score of 586, with host and cross town rival, Berry College landing in third with 597. Hudson Keener of LaGrange College took first place overall shooting 139.

The Hawks tee up next on March 12 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., at the South Carolina Beaufort Sand Shark Classic held at Chechessee Creek Club.
