SILVIS, Ill. -- Second round play at the 2011 NAIA Men's Golf National Championship has been suspended due to rain and thunderstorms at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The teams will resume second round action at approximately 9 a.m. CDT on Thursday.

Ninth-ranked Shorter University, which stood in 20th place after a rain-altered first round, finds itself in a tie for 18th with Point Loma Nazarene (Calif.) at +25 for the championship. The Hawks barely got underway with their second round before inclement weather conditions forced the suspension of play.

Oklahoma Christian University continues to lead at +1 and is eight strokes up on Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) and British Columbia, which are tied for second at +9. All three of those teams managed to get through a good portion of the front nine in their second round appearances.

Shorter's Arvid Bengtson is in 29th after his opening round 74 (+3) on Tuesday at the par-71 course. The 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and tournament medalist was unable to begin his second round on Wednesday.

Ethan Lambert is 2-over through two holes -- he was the only Hawk to begin his second round -- in the second round and stands in 64th for the championship at +6.

Coaches for the 29 teams at the championships are scheduled to meet at 10 p.m. ET to determine tomorrow's schedule.
