Preseason votes go to Hawks football
Rome, Ga. - The Shorter College football team will open the season as one of the teams to watch in the NAIA this season, after the Hawks received votes in the NAIA Top 25 preseason poll that was released this week. Shorter, which kicks off its fourth season on Thursday, Aug. 28 visiting NCAA Div. I Western Carolina, was one of six Mid-South Conference teams to earn a spot on the poll. MORE [+]

Hawks football takes field for first practice
Rome, Ga. - The Shorter College Hawks football team kicked off the start of a new season this afternoon with their first practice of the fall. Most of the student-athletes on the 132-person roster reported to campus on Tuesday, with meetings and physicals yesterday.

Zach Morrison named pre-season All-American by Sporting News
Rome, Ga. - In the NAIA Preview released by Sporting News' College Football Magazine, offensive lineman Zach Morrison has been named as one of 13 All-American selections for the 2008 season. Morrison, a 6-0 senior from Forsyth Central High School, was key in Shorter's offensive line last year, contributing as a starter for his third straight season. MORE [+]
