College Career: In his first season with the
Hawks, Walter Hill earned NAIA All-America and Southern States
Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year honors in addition to
first team All-SSAC accolades... Hill led Shorter in scoring at
17.5 points a game and ranked second on the team in rebounding a
7.6 caroms per outing... Reached double figures in 27 of his 29
appearances and posted seven double-doubles... Had his best game
against nationally ranked Southern Poly in Marietta when he scored
26 points and had 18 rebounds... Torched Truett-McConnell for a
season-high 28 points on 11 of 17 shooting... Recorded five
straight games of at least 21 points, a run that included 21 points
in an upset of Lee and 24 points in a win over rival Berry... Was
arguably Shorter’s best defensive player and led the Hawks at
1.7 steals per game... Recorded seven double-digit rebounding
games... Despite leading the team in shot attempts, Hill shot 52
percent from the floor... Knocked down 35 percent of his
three-point attempts... Hill is a former “Mr.
Basketball” in the state of Georgia and originally signed to
play hoops at the University of Georgia after an All-State career
at East Hall High, where he won a state championship in 2005.
