Pete Summers (Baseball)


Former Shorter baseball standout Pete Summers ended his career as a three-time All-Conference performer. A 1975 graduate, Summers, known as Tank and Mr. Hustle, starred at the plate and on the mound for the Hawks, posting a career-best batting average of .318 as a sophomore before leading the nation in 1973 with a 0.57 ERA. Summers went a perfect 10-0 on the mound in 1974 while giving up just four runs in 63 innings pitched. Summers was drafted by and played for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.
