Shirley Knighton (Women's Basketball)

A four-year letter winner for the Lady Hawks' basketball team, Shirley Knighton led her team in scoring in both the 1977-78 and 1978-79 seasons, scoring 554 and 627 points, respectively.

Knighton ranks high on several Shorter all-time records, including free throw percentage (.740) and field goals made (257).

Knighton served as team captain in her junior and senior seasons as she helped the Lady Hawks post 31 wins in 1978 and 25 wins in 1979. For her efforts, Knighton earned All-America honors while her No. 54 jersey was retired in 2002.
